On Monday, February 17, 2020, Jeff Bezos said he’s giving $10 billion dollars to help fight climate change which is about 7.7% of his net worth.
He recently posted on Instagram saying “We can save Earth, but it’s going to take collective action from big companies, small companies, nation-states, global organizations, and individuals.”
Bezos, the richest man in the world, has an estimated net worth of about $130 billion and his pledge of $10 billion to help with climate change is about 7.7% of his entire net worth.

I like the fact that Bezos had announced in September to get the company carbon-neutral by 2040, 100% renewable energy by 2030, and 100,000 electric delivery vehicles by 2030.
According to research, in January more than 350 Amazon employees pushed the company to do more to fight climate change. It was noted that they all signed a Medium blog calling for net-zero emissions by 2030, among other requests.
Bezos said, “Climate change is the biggest threat to our planet. I want to work alongside others both to amplify know ways and to explore new ways of fighting the devasting impact of climate change on the planet we all share.”

According to Business Insider’s Paige Leskin, Bezos was the only American among the world’s five richest people who haven’t signed the Giving Pledge. A pledge in which participants promise to give away more than half of their wealth during their lifetimes or in their wills. It was reported that his ex-wife, MacKenzie Bezos, signed the pledge in May 2019.
